To begin with, there are three kinds of hybrid cars SHEV, PHEV and FCEV. They use the two kinds of energy in different ways and the efficiency is not the same. SHEV is a kind of hybrid car that uses motor to charge the electric motor to give energy. While the car is started, the heat energy is changed into electricity to run the car, but in the process there will be energy-loss. The second type, PHEV uses either motor or electric motor to give energy. As either kind of motor is used inefficiently, this kind of cars are not so much common. The third one, CHEV is actually the most efficient of the three. When the engine has just been started, CHEV will use motor to speed up. And then after the car has reached the average speed, it will let the electric motor to give energy, and use motor to charge the battery. In this path, the waste heat of the internal combustion engine is absorbed by the engine cooling fluid, and is then heat exchanged with an evaporative fluid in a closed circuit. The evaporative fluid is vaporized so as to drive an expander which in turn drives an electric generator.[High efficiency hybrid car, FT Abdelmalek] This can reduce or even abandon the waste of energy, make it the most efficient car.[Topology Research Institute. Lithium Battery Information - Leading Power Future] What’s more, using both of fuel and electricity can help to minimize the size of the battery in order to light the cars. According to KT.Chau, this can save two to four kw-hr per hundred miles.[Emerging Energy-Efficient Technologies for Hybrid Electric
