Advantages And Disadvantages Of E-Learning Essay

E-learning has come a long way within the business world. Certain companies now turn to e-learning when it comes to training their employees. Before taking such a giant step, the companies must first ask themselves: What risks and benefits will e-learning bring to the company? Some of the most profitable companies, now a day, are using e-learning methods to enhance the knowledge of their employees. I have done some research on this topic and I will further discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages that e-learning can bring.

Advantages & Disadvantages

E- learning has both its risks and benefits. When it comes to the disadvantages that e-learning can bring there are not that many as compared to the benefits that it has. One of the main weaknesses that e-learning can bring is lack of employee motivation. Some employees might lack motivation due to them not being up to speed when it comes to technology. They might prefer a face to face learning style since they feel they get a learning connection. Others might just skim through the modules to get the training completed as fast as possible to be able to get back to work. Another very important disadvantage includes the tendency of having assignments in which the questions are only about the knowledge and not practical study. One very important benefit is that everything is done electronically. Just that simple fact opens the door to many more benefits including reduced cost of training. Companies don’t have to worry about needing printed material or experts onsite to conduct the trainings. It also allows the employees to be able to do their training around their busy work schedule. There are also other employees who might have to go out of town or travel and they can still work on their training while they are away instead of worrying that they might have to report to class at a certain
