Another advantage to a burial is, some visitors may want to touch that special person for the last time. Cremation cost about one eighth of a burial. There are many reasons why a cremation would be more cost effective. An urn would only need a small hole and vault versus a large hole and vault. Plus, the cost of the coffin is a huge expense. An urn would be much cheaper to buy. I would think that it might cost less money for the cemetery plot due to the size. Therefore, many people are choosing cremation versus a burial. Furthermore, there are some people that do not want to be displayed in front of others for visitation viewing. Also, if the person wants to be buried in a different place such as a different state or country, they just have to have someone carry the urn versus transporting a whole casket. Urns are very portable versus a casket. I imagine transporting a casket takes a few weeks and is expensive. This leads me to another benefit, the person may not want to be buried at all. Maybe, they had a special place in mind, to where they would like their ashes to be distributed such as, a favorite park, ocean, or where their spouse proposed to them.
