Chinese Bureaucracy Advantages And Disadvantages

Bureaucracies are an important part of governments. The people involved in the bureaucracy are an integral aspect of the bureaucracy and it is important that they are well educated. For a Chinese bureaucracy it is important that the scholars are well educated and excel in the Confucian classics as they make up the foundation of Chinese government. There are several advantages and disadvantages to having Confucius educated scholars. It would be advantageous to have the Chinese government or bureaucracy staffed with scholars who are well versed in the Confucian classics. Well-educated scholars are an asset to the empire because they are well versed in Confucian principles, these scholars understand morals and what is ren and li. Two very important concepts according to Confucius, in fact they are essentially the foundation of the government. Morals are the foundation of the Chinese government and it is important that the officials understand what is morally correct and are able to apply the principles to their daily lives and matters brought up in government. The advantages are the well-educated scholars are able to present their ideas in a well-formulated way. They are able to identify the issues affecting the empire and work on solutions to the problems. Having the scholars being educated in Confucian classics also has its disadvantages because these scholars believe that being moral and having virtuous leaders to guide the people can fix the problems affecting the empire. These Confucian educated scholars are helpful and harmful to the bureaucracy because their strengths are their weaknesses. By having a strong Confucian foundation, which is the basis of the government, these scholars are too focused on being moral and virtuous that they do not always believe that action can be the better
