Group discussions can provide the researcher with a richer and more detailed knowledge of the subject. The interactions and debates between students could generate new ideas that are not only useful for the research study, but also influence others to behave in certain ways that increase their recycling habits. A simple discussion and listening to someone else’s point of view could be a sufficient motivator of changing people’s perspectives. In this way, these group discussions may also serve as a strong influence of changing behaviour which is actually the final goal of this study. On the other hand, the contribution of one person in the discussion may be the stimulus for another’s person contribution and may initiate a debate or even arguments. These disagreements are a great source of creative suggestions and innovative solutions to a problem. Students can talk from their own experience, illustrating with examples in real life and describing the challenges and opportunities that recycling offers.
