Until my junior year of high school, I despised politics and everything that it stood for. I intentionally did not turn the television on on nights of presidential debates or speeches. I did not pay attention to local, national, or world news and the only opinions I had on those matters were from what I heard from my mother. Considering my feelings toward politics and government, it is still a surprise to me as to why I chose to include Advanced Placement U.S. Government in my tenth grade class schedule. However, knowing what I do now, it is the greatest decision I could have made throughout my four years in high school.
