BIO 1114 taught me to believe in my ability to work hard in order to conquer any information that was put in my way. I remember watching my professor write the chemical reactions for cellular respiration, and thinking to myself I will never be a good scientist because I cannot learn that information. In order to overcome this challenge (which represents most challenges I had when dealing with hard classes) I had to do three main things. First figure…
Emily Guay proclaimed, “If you believe in yourself and you will come unstoppable.” I passed eighth grade science with a 94 ; I was genuinely scared that I wouldn’t do well in Pre AP Biology. It took me having an abundance of confidence to believe in myself. Fortunately, I am currently doing well in Pre AP Biology. Concluding to confidence, Pre AP Biology has taught me how to accept challenges.…
Aundria McCadney Reflection Paper #2 (Adams Place) When I found out Adams place were coming to speak I thought they was just going to talk about long-term care just like every other nursing home. The most shocking was to learn that they offer other health services as well like independent living, assisted living, and rehab. Both of the speakers provided some good information about being Health Administrator in the nursing home settings.…
On the first day of school, I remember walking into class and seeing all of the new people in my class. I also remember meeting all of my new teachers. I had no idea how much that I would learn, and I had no idea how much I would struggle to learn the new material. One particular class that I feel that I have learned a lot in is WHAP. WHAP stands for world history AP.…
AP Chemistry has made me realize that you need to work hard for the things you want. AP Chemistry is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was full of hard concepts and ideas that I could not seem to understand. Most times, I stayed up studying for tests until three in the morning. My teacher had tests that were based on past AP exams and in order to reach the highest score, a five, you usually needed to get a minimum percentage of seventy percent.…
Although Frazier struggled to see her own potential in chemistry at the beginning of last year, encouragements from her advisor and teacher as well as her classmates, coupled with her own growing desire to succeed, transformed this once uncertain student into a fearless and perseverant student of chemistry. She began to understand that chemistry is a…
Beginning with AP World History my sophomore year, I was immediately overwhelmed by the new, more academically challenging class that I now had before me. Since then, I have added more AP courses annually and have now made my way up to six for the year. I was gradually overloaded with increasing amounts of work and material to read and study on a daily basis, making me question whether I may have bitten off more than I could chew. I now realize that taking these course taught me how important it is to take the time to focus on each subject whether through work or studying. With time and maturity, I have become accustomed to the rigor of these courses and have gained an understanding for the importance of prioritizing and not procrastinating.…
When I went to E.O.D (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) School for training while I was in the Army I was told I would fail. I didn’t know it then but I adopted a creator mindset to get myself through. I did succeed and I did graduate. Students were only allowed an hour and a half to study so I had to make the most of the time I was given.…
Michael Jordan once said, “If you 're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I 've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don 't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don 't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”…
During the Winter Quarter of 2018, I enrolled in CHEM1A at De Anza Community College to deepen my understanding of chemistry. Going into the class, I expected it to be similar to a high school class. However, I quickly discovered that it was quite different--it was literally and figuratively in a class of its own. There were a lot more advanced concepts taught in my CHEM1A course. At first, I was at a loss on how to study and adequately prepare for the class, given the volume of material and many details involved.…
In my years of high school, I took all honors classes and tried to challenge myself as much as possible. This summer, when I received my schedule, I saw organic chemistry was one of my classes. Many people told me that this class was impossible, so I went into school with my mind set on switching out immediately. Alternatively, I decided to try it out and, to my surprise, I actually…
My life began to spiral downward before fifth grade began. I found myself an endless loop over summer vacation of waking up, experiencing the day as a blur, sleep, then repeat. This drove me to discover a new way to spend my day. On the television I noticed a recurring advertisement for a game called ‘World of Warcraft’. At first I instilled the mindset that I could spend my time pragmatically but eventually I succumbed to boredom.…
Journal Analysis. This journal analysis is about my experience in field placement regarding the things I have learnt so far and how I have integrated some of the skill and knowledge from the course material . I also going to identify my future learning and professional goals.…
For this reflective journal I have chosen to reflect on the changes that have occurred throughout my placement, and how this has impacted my learning. I have been very blessed this semester to have a very stimulating and informational placement, however changes that occurred at my placement organization has undeniably impacted my learning. Approximately 6 months into my placement, my supervisor, Hadiya, chose to leave my placement organization, Harmony House, to move onto other job opportunities. Hadiya’s absence has impacted my ability to learn in my placement, however the impact has been largely positive. Due to Hadiya leaving Harmony House, I was able to gain another supervisor, Caitlin, and she acts as the housing advocate at Harmony House.…
