Flexibility is needed as well to be able to deal with more than one patient at a time. National careers service (2016) states that “A good adult nurse has patience and understanding. They have the ability to remain calm under pressure. They are also compassionate and sensitive.” Adult nurses have six core values set out by the nursing and midwifery council that they need to have which are care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment. These core values are very important for an adult nurse to have as they not only have to communicate with patients, but their families and other healthcare professionals as well. They also need to be very competent as they are administering medication to patients and if they get the dosage wrong, could potentially kill a patient.
