Adult Learning Philosophy

My overall goal in teaching is to ensure that the class is stimulating, along with the allowance of creativity and allow for peer interaction with the course. I instruct adult learners through distance learning in criminal justice and law enforcement courses. During the courses, I promote peer interaction through allowing learners to educate peers on a topic. For instance, one assignment involves the development of a PowerPoint presentation 15-15 slides on a topic of the learners choosing to educate peers on three things the learner learned while conducting research on the selected subject, in addition to including one thing the learner learned while conducting research on the subject. The learners then respond two peers through the discussion posts in response to the questions posed. As a result, varied types of activities during a course is how I prefer to learn, although discussion posts are not a favorite of mind. I am committed to adding new activities and assignments to each course to keep it interesting for learners, as well as myself.
