Adoption Vs Abortion Research Paper

“In this life, we have to make many choices. Some are very important choices. Some are not. Many of our choices are between good and evil. The choices we make, however, determine to a large extent our happiness or our unhappiness, because we have to live with the consequences of our choices(James E. Faust).” Adoption and abortion, and age old debate on which is better but can the two really be just different sides to the same coin. Are the two one in the same or are they from two different spectrums, how can one be measured against the merit of the other? More importantly is adoption truly the cure all for those considering abortion or is it just as devastating if not more? The article works to describe how placing your child up for adoption could benefit the community, “In the USA, there are approximately two million infertile couples waiting to adopt..(Abortion vs. Adoption: Why so Many Choose the First and What We Can Do | Live Action News.).” They are trying use facts to educate/persuade people that they can be helping the community and their fellow man, thus not choosing abortion. This does not however talk about the stress of knowing your child is growing up with another family, even if they know the couple would be good parents. It is not the job of the fertile to give up months of their lives and their bodies to provide for those who can’t have children. It does realize some of the fears that people have regarding adoption, “Yes, some adults do enter the foster care system for the money it provides or other wrong reasons(Abortion vs. Adoption: Why so Many Choose the First and What We Can Do | Live Action News.). “ It works to educate people on the fact that there are some trouble with the system, but tries to convince that it is a very small problem. Still this “small problem” could put so much emotional stress on a birth mother that she fears giving up her child, this could lead to miscarriage and other medical problems. The choice could, and most likely will, have a major impact on her life. It will start with not having the right kind of access to things they need, “It means that women have less control over their sexuality (the power to say "no" and access to birth control) and that support for women in unplanned pregnancies is lacking(Adoption Is Not a 'cure' for Abortion).” When the woman’s choices are taken from her or simply unobtainable it can leave her feeling she has no choice but to choose the one she may have hoped to avoid. It can leave her feeling helpless and forced into a bad situation, which in turn could leave lasting damage.When a person is not supported in such an extreme situation to the point where she feels she has to give up her body so she once again has the help of those around her, it changes the amount of stress and depression felt in the situation. There is a harsher truth behind everything, “Many research studies have shown that adoptees and birth mothers suffer more from depression, and that there is a higher rate of suicide among these populations(Do Adoptees Have More Problems?).” The mother is put in danger of her life and even if it doesn’t the depression could truly ruin her life. There is nothing that can be done when someone takes their own life but to prevent any of this from happening would have been a simple procedure that would have
