Adoption Argumentative Analysis

Whether or not abortion should be legal is a question that has been heavily debated for decades. It is, without a doubt, one of the more hot-button issues that is discussed. One side argues that the other is full of heartless baby killers. One side argues that the other is full of delusional oppressors. The answer to this hefty question can be found through logic and empathy. Imagine you are a woman who has recently fell victim to the horrendous crime called rape. You’re distraught and terrified with the possibility of never recovering. Then your torturous experiences worsens ten fold when you discover that you are pregnant. You have three options; terminate the pregnancy, raise the child, or put it up for adoption. I can see how this can sound terrible. I’m not referring to disabilities like Dwarfism where people can live rich and fulfilling lives. I’m referring to disabilities that cause short lives that are composed entirely of pain and suffering. It is often argued that mothers who would have an abortion due to a prediction of a serious disability are heartless but many who do chose this option do so because it would crush them to see their child live a brief life that was nothing but constant pain. But if I’d known everything that Dylan would have to go through, and will have to go through, there’s no doubt in my mind that, given the correct information, I would have asked for a termination.
