It is almost Christmas. Before Alex moved to New York, she never had a white Christmas but now, looking through the window, snow is all she can see. Even from the apartment building, she can feel just how cold it is outside and she snuggles the blanket closer around her, the book forgot on her lap.
As she looks out of the window, the ever moving city expanding before her eyes, Alex wonders about the interview on the news last night. She can easily imagine the shock. She has always known she’s adopted, Alex remembers the orphanage all too well.
She remembers every birthday, Christmas morning and first days of school she lived in that place. Every comment, sneaky remark, and joke kids at school ever made about her. Robert always has been and
