As a high school student, I volunteered at the Orland Park Public Library as well as Palos Heights Community Hospital. I was a computer volunteer assistant who would help patrons with print jobs, taking printing money, and help those who had trouble using the Internet. I also helped senior citizens with their cell phones. I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

I really love working serving kids, and I am really passionate about it. In India, I went to this home for orphaned kids. I helped raise some money with a group, and we donated it to the kids for their education. I also took part in this volunteer group project, which lasted about a week. One thing that I have not considered before was when it is around Christmas time, and people do the adopt a family, that some families, but not all did not like it when we gave their families free Christmas gifts for their children. It was mostly the father of the house hold that did not like it at all, because that made the father feel like he could not provide for his family. When it was time to open present the father would go upstairs and go to his room, and if his children ask their mother where their father was, the mother would always lie and say that he left and went to the grocery store, and he would be right back. Even though he was right upstairs, the mother did not want to explain why the father did not want to be down stairs while they were opening up their gifts. I just never considered it that way.…
Volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of my favorite things to do. A few weeks ago, on a serene Saturday morning, my family and I volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. It was special to see just the sheer amount of people who had come out to volunteer on that Saturday. If you think about, they could’ve been doing anything on that Saturday morning. If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others.
