Adopt-A-Fulf: My Love Of Volunteering

Decent Essays
I'm not certain what age you would accept or want to volunteer but I'm 14 years old and would love to volunteer. I chose Adopt-a-shelf, because I love to clean and have my own little area to take care of. I also chose Books For Babies, because I have a nephew and niece and I love to read to them the baby books and the books are always the cutest! I love to volunteer and help the community out. Thanks for your time and consideration for this

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

I really love working serving kids, and I am really passionate about it. In India, I went to this home for orphaned kids. I helped raise some money with a group, and we donated it to the kids for their education. I also took part in this volunteer group project, which lasted about a week. We would go to the nearby lake, which was extremely polluted, and pick up the trash.…

One thing that I have not considered before was when it is around Christmas time, and people do the adopt a family, that some families, but not all did not like it when we gave their families free Christmas gifts for their children. It was mostly the father of the house hold that did not like it at all, because that made the father feel like he could not provide for his family. When it was time to open present the father would go upstairs and go to his room, and if his children ask their mother where their father was, the mother would always lie and say that he left and went to the grocery store, and he would be right back. Even though he was right upstairs, the mother did not want to explain why the father did not want to be down stairs while they were opening up their gifts. I just never considered it that way.…

Volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of my favorite things to do. A few weeks ago, on a serene Saturday morning, my family and I volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. It was special to see just the sheer amount of people who had come out to volunteer on that Saturday. If you think about, they could’ve been doing anything on that Saturday morning. Yet, they decided to help give back to their community.…

If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others. A positive aspect I saw was that those who were already volunteering were really dedicated and kind hearted. I believe they are making a big impact on every person they touched and made it a task to spread their kindness.…

Many people around the globe would like to devote valuable time and skills to Save the Children – in our offices, community projects, fundraising and awareness activities, and in our advocacy work. Volunteers support Save the Children by giving their time and skills to accomplish and execute roles which have been identified by, or agreed with, the organization. Every once in a while Save the Children might need additional support to deliver its commitments. However, the necessary resources might not always be available to engage full time staff members or to compensate them in the form of cash.…
