After WWI, Adolf Hitler was in charge of Germany who wasn’t badly damaged in the war. They held “land of planted fields, well-cared for houses, and decently fed people” (pg 311). Despite the loss in the war and paying for the victors compensation that they couldn’t afford as well as giving up their land on the East side, everything was working out for Germany, the kaiser resigned and Germany was now a democracy. In the 1930’s the Great Depression broke out and 6 million Germans were out of work. Even though Hitler was not raised in Germany, he was reading at the public library in Germany and was figuring out who he hated and who he liked. He loved Germany, hating everyone else, such as businessman, socialists, communist and especially Jews. He started out as a runner for the front lines during the war, but mustard gas temporarily blinded him and he joined the …show more content…
He later became the leader of this party which was named “National Socialist German Workers” party, even though it was not a national or socialist group. In 1923, Hitler decided to seize power of Germany, he entered a beer hall and he fired a pistol at the ceiling yelling, “The national revolution has begun” leading everyone to the center of the city but police fired back at the Nazis and they all scattered, capturing Hitler. Although he was on trial and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, they only kept him for 9 months. While he served his time, he wrote a book called “Mein Kampf” meaning “my struggles”; this book consisted of all the things he wanted to do in life.
