Adolf Hitler's Consequences Of German History

Adolf Hitler in the lens of German History finds his scope as being one of the most dominant leaders in all of history. Whether or not his dominance was imposing or immoral is not a relevant question because it is generally accepted that Hitler ruled with the most heinous of intentions behind his cause. The question I will attempt to answer is how Hitler positioned himself at certain junctures during his reign around the implementation of Propaganda, and how he either employed or refrained from using propaganda effectively in order to position himself at the throne of the Third Reich? Would the Third Reich have been as successful as they were without the use of propaganda, and how did certain types of propaganda make more of an impact on …show more content…
Immediately after his employment Goebbels began to devise various ways to contrive Nazi ideals in an effective and non-offensive manner. Goebbels was assigned the task of uplifting the spirit of the German people and employing the media, to convince the population to support the war effort (History.com Staff editorial). Hitler put Goebbels in a position of great power and Joseph Goebbels was highly motivated to succeed from the beginning of his career. Goebbels had to initiate a complete reconstruction of those individuals who were disloyal to Hitler in the business of journalism (Herf, Jeffery). Because of this fact Goebbels had to lay off many whom he could not put his complete and utter confidence in, such as Jewish or gay journalists. Goebbels was able to create thousands of jobs for those of Aryan heritage provided that he also contributed to thousands of people also losing their jobs. One of the most important timeframes in Goebbels career was on May 10, 1933 where Goebbels spoke out at a book burning in Berlin and condemned all Jewish works of literature and academia, thus perpetuating the Anti-Semitic Nazi astigmatism (U.S Holocaust Memorial Museum). …show more content…
A very interesting tactic Goebbels implemented during his time, as Hitler’s head of Propaganda Ministry were his nighttime displays of Nazi power. Primarily Goebbels is most remembered for his displays at Nuremberg. Here, he organized rallies that were designed to show the world the strength of the Nazi nation. In August of each year, huge rallies were held at Nuremberg . Arenas, which held over 400,000 people, were built. During these infamous nighttime displays, 150 searchlights encircled the main arena and were lit up into the night sky. The light could be seen over 100 kilometers away in what a British politician, Sir Neville Henderson, called a "cathedral of light"

This was Hitler’s right hand man, and this is the man who ultimately brainwashed everyone. Goebbels promoted the Nazi message through art, music, theater, films, books, radio, and the press. Goebbels worked to inflame the anger of Germans over their defeat in World War I and emphasized German cultural and military achievements to boost national pride. He had the same idea as America, with gaining national pride, it's just they were nowhere close to being the same. I strongly disagree with his usage of propaganda and with him creating it.…

Once every year from 1933 to 1938, the Nazi party held the Nuremberg Rallies in the Zeppelintribune. The Nuremberg Rallies were large propaganda events designed by Speer and primarily focused on portraying Hitler as Germany’s saviour. Through this contribution by Speer, Hitler rapidly gained supporters as he arose the nationalistic nature of many Germans, in particular those who praised the militaristic values Germany once stood for (Encyclopedia Britannica. 2016. The goal was to strike a balance between a hero who would sacrifice everything for his country, and someone that could have been your next door neighbor. Kershaw’s collection of evidence from this time shows that the public was very receptive to these tactics. However, Kershaw does not give all of the credit to Goebbels. He also acknowledges that the values of the nationalist press, which had drenched the German population for decades at that point, helped to make Goebbels’ job that much easier. The population was already primed for ideas like this.…

Frequently, Hitler spoke with a man named Joseph Goebbels, who was the Reich Minister of Nazi Germany at the time (Steinweis, 99). Sometime after the pogrom, Goebbels and Hitler spoke on the matter (Steinweis, 104). Hitler knew that there needed to be “decisive steps” towards the “settlement” of the Jewish question (Steinweis, 104). Goebbels agreed with Hitler and added that Jews should be excluded from “Aryans” as much as possible, especially within the public (Steinweis, 105). An example that he provided of this included measures that would prohibit Jews from sharing spaces with Aryans, such as in railroad compartments, public swimming pools, and schools (Steinweis, 105).…

The films that were released to the general public focused on very specific issues, such as the problem of the Jews, the greatness and blessing of Hitler, the way that true Nazi children and members should be living, and then as World War II got closer they also focused on the supposed “mistreatment” of the Germans. There were films that focused on the so-called Martyr’s of the Nazi party; they also compared the Jews to rodents who were spreading diseases all over Europe, and many other films. But Goebbels did something interesting, he didn’t want there to be just heavy political films in the Cinemas and ordered many comedies to be made to give Germany a “lighter” look and to help the people of Germany be even more unsuspecting against the views of the Nazi party. Goebbels wanted to make sure that everyone was able to hear Hitler speak, and so he organized the sale of radios that were quite cheap. Goebbels believed that if Hitler was to give his speeches then the people of Germany better have a way to tune in and hear him.…

Goebbels started a weekly newspaper called Das Reich in 1940 and generally wrote the lead article each week, which showed his anti-Semitic views, in which he took great pride. In his article written in November 1941, “The Jews are Guilty!” , Goebbels announced that the future of the Jews in Germany was over and anyone sympathetic to the Jews would be punished. This anti-semitic article, like most of Goebbels’s lead articles, was read over the radio ("Goebbels on the Jews (1941)"). Joseph Goebbels supported sending Jews to concentration camps and ghettos to the east and pushed for Jews in his jurisdiction in Berlin to be sent first.…

Goebbels’ most horrid depiction of the Jewish peoples was when he made the major films called “The eternal Jew” (1940) this was a propaganda film that showed the History of the Jewish culture and how they disrupt the peaceful lands/societies that preexisted. He also made the fill jus side which was about a Jewish financial consultant called Oppenheimer that was the duke taxes counter. The duke mysteriously died, causing the consultant to be automatically tried and convicted then sentenced to death. The J¬ewish people had suffered a long history of prejudice and persecution. And although Nazis perpetuated centuries-old lies, this time those lies would have their most devastating effects. Like never before, anti-Semitism was manifested in a sweeping national policy known as "the Final Solution," which sought to eliminate Jews from the face of the Earth. Adolf Hitler and his minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels accomplished this by launching a massive campaign to convince the German people that the Jews were their enemies. Having taken over the press, they spread lies blaming Jews for all of Germany's problems, including the loss of World War I.…

It is well known that Adolf Hitler is a master of persuasion and in his Reichstag speech of December 11, 1941, he shows why. In this speech he gives reasons for the outbreak of war in September 1939, explains why he decided to attack the Soviet Union in June 1941, and announces that Germany was now in a war against the United States. Throughout this speech, he was able to maintain an air of righteousness while successfully manipulating his people into fighting for him. To accomplish this task, he cunningly uses a persuasive format for organizing his points, tone, and rhetoric devices, such as pathos, false dilemmas, and ethos, to gain support and loyalty of the German nation and maintain it.…
