Hitler: Hero or Menace Mention World War II, and many people first think of Hitler. Hitler is clearly the most influential leader of World War II. Although Hitler is most commonly associated with evil, it is apparent he was a highly influential leader during World War II. This is evident through his speeches, his organizational and motivational skills, and that he will always be remembered as the catalyst of war. Hitler ranks as one of the greatest orators of all time (Top 10 Most Powerful Orators of the 20th Century (Videos)). In fact, many of his quotes are still used today. Hitler’s power and success initially came from his ability to speak publicly. Hitler knew that his ability to speak would get him far, and convince Germany that his views were the right views. Hitler expressed his understanding of this concept, in his book Mein Kampf , “I know that men are won over less by the written than by the spoken word, that every great movement on this earth owes its growth to great orators and not to great writers” (Macias).
