The Third Reich is a period of time in German history in which it was a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler. Under Hitler’s control, Germany was transformed into a fascist totalitarian state that dominated all aspects of its citizens lives. Hitler’s rise to power was due to his remarkable skills as a speaker. His powerful speaking attracted many Germans that were seeking a change from their traditional politics. Hitler’s movement was called the Nationalist Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) or more commonly known as the Nazi Party. The Nazis party was appealing mainly to those of the lower middle class, the young people, and those who were unemployed.These groups of people feared the Marxist call, which was a radical redistribution of wealth. The ruthless and extraordinary leadership of Hitler sets his group apart from the other racial and national movements of the time increasing his popularity with the German citizens. Adolf Hitler and his movement were given the boost it needed with the onset of the worldwide Great Depression beginning with the stock market crash in the United States. Hitler led the Beer Hall Putsch, also referred to as the Munich Putsch, which took place in Munich, Germany. The Beer Hall Putsch was Hitler’s attempt to overthrow Germany’s government, the Weimar Republic. However, with a lack of military support, the Putsch collapsed.
