“As discussed in class the microsystem includes an individuals immediate surroundings, involving friends and family (McCoy, 2016, Spring).” Different individuals microsystems impact the adolescent and their development. Nathan states, “I have a very wide variety of friends, but they are all generally very caring and we all enjoy being one another’s friends. My friendships mean a lot to me.” In adolescent years I think it is important to have a good friends that have the same standards. Nathan was able to make some amazing friends in high school, helping this time during the adolescent stage better because people who are caring surround him. Because he has such a great group of friends Nathan does not feel much pressure to look or dress a certain way. He states, “Sometimes I get compliments when I dress nicer and that makes me want to dress better more often.” This makes Nathan more of an atypical teen because he does not really care what people think of the way he looks or dresses. Although he states, “At one point there was pressure to not be friends with some people because some of my friends did not like them, but I told them I didn’t want to be there friend if that means I have to stop being friends with certain people.” This answer impressed me because many teenagers get caught up in peer pressure. Nathan seemed extremely sure of himself and does not let what others think affect
