Ado Annie's Play

The first act primarily gave a background on how those townsfolk settled on Oklahoma Territory. It also illustrated Curly’s pursuit of Laurey, and Ado Annie’s love triangle. The second act was the true execution of everybody’s motives. Curly defeats Jud and wins Laurey over and Will Parker finally earns back $50 to take Ado Annie as his wife. I think the rhythm was smooth and cohesive. Almost all parts of the plot make sense. There does not seem to be too many random scenes that don’t fit into the story. All the scenes relate to the main characters or the main themes directly or indirectly. There is only one scene at the beginning which has an interpretive dance. During the dance, there is a pause that takes place in the dance but the music continues for an extended time. He is one of the male love interests, who seems to be in his late teens or early 20s. He is crazy about Laurey & ends up marrying her later in the musical. Curly has this confident attitude especially when he is with Laurey. It’s almost as if he knows that she likes him and he won’t take no for an answer. I think his number one desire is to be with Laurey. He sings a song about wanting a woman but I think his desire was more than wanting a woman, he wants Laurey specifically. He does not like Jud Fry because Jud is Curly’s competition for Laurey. Ado Annie is a girl who just can’t say no. She seems to be in her mid to late teens. She seems to be a little immature in her demeanor. She wants guys that don’t want her back and when she has a good guy willing to take her, she is ready to throw him away. Her father makes the decision for her and decides that whoever has the money to marry her will have her hand in marriage. She’s carefree, she wants to be with Ali Hakim and tries to evade anyone that will get in the way of her love with
