Asia McClain was a high school student who attended the same school Adnan and Hae did. Asia claims to have been talking to Adnan at the library the day Hae was murdered. She wrote letters to Adnan when he was convicted. In the first letter, Asia writes,“I'm not sure if you remember talking to me in the library on January 13, but I remember chatting with you." (Episode 1: The Alibi, p.18). Asia McClain is an alibi for Adnan’s case. Adnan couldn’t be at the library and strangling Hae at the same time. Therefore, if what Asia says is true, Adnan couldn’t be guilty. Usually, the case of a murder has concrete evidence of who did it before the state convicts the defendant. There was no firm proof of Adnan murdering Hae. In an interview with Jay, Jay had said that “During the conversation he stated that he was going to kill that bitch, referring to Hae Lee.” (Episode 1: The Alibi, p.7). Usually, oral testimony can’t be relied upon fully, for the witness could be lying. The state used Jay’s word as evidence to the conviction of Adnan Syed. The state has no physical evidence that Adnan Syed killed Hae Min Lee so he may not be the
