Adnan Syed, the convicted murderer at a young age, got famous because how he got convicted was very confusing and there was not that much evidence against him in the first place. Adnan says he is innocent and many questions have been unanswered from this trial, just keep in mind that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Adnan’s case got very popular in a podcast Serial, developed by This American Life. Serial is nonfiction that is spoken by Sarah Koenig who is an investigative journalism. Sarah Koenig also mentions there was no real evidence that Adnan is the murderer. The View from LL2 has all the evidence from the podcast titled, Serial: An Examination of the Prosecution’s Evidence Against Adnan Syed, which reviews all available evidence. …show more content…
About 19 years ago, January 13, 1999 a high school senior Hae Min Le that went to Woodlawn High School has disappeared. About a month later, Hae’s body was found in Lincoln Park in Baltimore. The cause of death was strangulation and Adnan Syed, was the first suspect and later was arrested for her murder, Adnan states that he did not murder her, that he is innocent (Serial season 1). “There was no physical evidence linking Adnan to Hae’s murder. It should be noted that this was not because of any lack of effort on the state’s part; in developing a case against Adnan, investigators compared soil found on Adnan’s boots to soil samples where Hae’s body was found, looked for Adnan’s fingerprints in Hae’s car and at the crime scene, tried to match fibers and hairs found at the crime scene with Adnan’s hair and clothes. But all of that came up empty” (The View from LL2). Since there was no real evidence putting Adnan in the crime scene, how was he the main suspect? Adnan’s convictions were based on unreliable “evidence”. One was a statement made from Jay, saying Adnan commented the murder but he has 3 different statements which would seem not credible. Two, cellphone records that Jay and Adnan placed, but cellphone towers don’t really pinpoint your real location. There is evidence saying that Adnan killed Hae because he is that kind of person to do out of rage. (Serial …show more content…
“The cops talked to this teacher on March 24 and in their notes, it says the teacher, Mr. Nicholson had had Adnan as a student the year before, the word “brooding” is in there, then it says suspect “had an uncle in Pakistan who can make people disappear.” Under that it says, they drained blood from cows at the mosque one day, he was pumped. So that odd tidbit from Mr. Nicholson ends up as an argument at Adnan’s bail hearing. I couldn’t find any other source for it in the detective’s or State’s attorney’s files I looked at. Adnan’s attorney made a stab at fact checking Wash’s information” (Serial season 10). This quote in the podcast explains that Adnan’s teacher had a story about his family, does not have any facts but just stories. One thing leads to another this story became a fact in Adnan’s bail hearing and made people feel unsafe and did not want Adnan to get bail to try to escape to Pakistan after a murder. Later, when the prosecutor apologized with that statement and informed everyone in the court that the stories of running to Pakistan after a murder is false in this case. Adnan still did not get bail, and how the prosecutor even brought up this story shows some stereotypes that was unforgivable and unfair. These kinds of stories can still give affect on people in their lives and their

There is no physical evidence that Adnan committed the murder, just assumptions and theories that led to his imprisonment. Jay, Adnan’s best friends boyfriend, tells the cops that Adnan had let him know that he was going to kill Hae. He also states that Adnan gives him his car and cellphone but who does this with someone you don't really know. There is no true evidence here. Not only that but the only person who claims to have seen him in that time frame “called one of the prosecutors in… the case…and undermined her own statement” proving his actual location was unknown at the time. It is unusual that Adnan would not remember anything about this crucial day because he received a phone call from the police. He says he does “remember that phone call and [he does] remember being high at the time” but continues to deny remembering anything else because the day was “normal”, but, receiving a phone call from the police does not seem very normal and most people would remember the events leading up to it. Another reason why Adnan is legally at fault is because he…

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…

John Wayne Gacy is one of the most infamous serial killers in American history. During a seven-year span of the 1970s, Gacy murdered 33 men. As is the case with many high profile murderers, to the average person, one would have to be insane to commit such acts, which is what Gacy 's defense claimed. The jury did not buy it though, and Gacy would be executed by lethal injection in 1994. Criminologists study why people commit crime, and assemble theories.…

Judicial murder made by inequity legal system In the month after “Making a Murderer” premiered on Netflix, more than 129,000 Americans signed a petition to pardon Avery and Dassey for their convictions to the murder of Halbach and in the book ‘in cold blood’ written by Truman Capote, the two murderers were treated by ignoring the mental problem influence of theirs, they stayed in prison for five years and were finally performed death penalty. After reading the book and watching the TV show, I think these crimes sufficiently prove that there is a fundamental inequity at work in countless branches of legal system. Making a Murderer tells a story about the life of Steven Avery, who was convicted of rape in 1985 and imprisoned for 18 years, despite…
