Adnan Quilty Case

Adnan is likely to be innocent because the evidences that go against him were inconsistent. Some of the inconsistencies were Jay’s credibility, the cell phone pings, the autopsy report, and the state’s conviction. First, Jay’s testimony was inconsistent because his story didn’t match with the autopsy report. Based on what Jay said at Adnan’s 2000 trial, he helped Adnan to bury Hae around 7:00p.m., which was about four and a half hours after Adnan killed her. However, according to Rabia in “Adnan Syed is Innocent and I Can Prove It: Lawyer Rabia Chaudry” by Diane Herbst, it was impossible because “the autopsy says that after she was killed, she was lying somewhere flat on her face for at least 8 to 12 hours before she was left in the park.” …show more content…
Based on “5 key findings from Undisclosed that Serial missed” article by Cristina Everett, the key calls were at 7:09 p.m. and 7:16 p.m., these calls were pinged nearby where Jay said he helped Adnan to bury Hae, arounding Leaking Park area. The state claimed that the cell phone record showed that Adnan was there to bury Hae, despite the fact that the 7:09 p.m. and 7:16 p.m. were incoming calls and Adnan never picked up these phone calls. The cell phone tower could have pinged the location of the person who made those calls. From the image from Serial website, we can see that the cover page of the AT&T cell phone record stated that “ Any incoming calls will NOT be considered reliable information for location,” this could’ve helped Adnan when the state said that “... cell phone record never lied.” Some might say the state used those calls as evidence against Adnan because there wasn't any other significant evidence. If that was really the case then they could've investigated more instead of closing the case and convicted

Sarah Koenig in Serial, and Rabia Chaudry in Undisclosed begins their investigations with preconceived reasons for Adnan Syed’s innocence. Chaudry is personally connected with Syed through her brother Saad Chaudry, Syed’s best friend, so Rabia Chaudry believes Syed’s awesome and cannot commit murder. Thus, as a lawyer, Chaudry has previously reviewed the state’s case thoroughly. On the other hand, Koenig begins her investigation with a different reason for doubting the state’s case against Syed. Koenig believes that Syed’s defense lawyer, Christina Gutierrez, might have messed-up; Koenig wrote an article in the Baltimore Sun about Syed’s defense lawyer when she was disbarred from law, for mishandling client’s money.…

The biggest pieces of evidence of the state are they proven unreliable stories of Jay Wilds and this call. Nisha does not know Jay so Adnan must have called him while they were in the car according to Jay's story Adnan was in the car and not the library but there's one problem that Nisha repeatedly tells the police that she remembers a call talking to Jay and Adnan at the video store Jay worked at not in the car, she stresses multiple times that she cannot remember this call taking place. The other question is how did this call happen if Adnan was in the library how did this call happen.…

Jay told the police that Adnan told him the plan of how he is going to murder Hae. Jay also said that Adnan showed him the body of Hae in his trunk. In the podcast, Jay says, “Because it’s not something you forget – where you were when you saw a dead body in the trunk of a car.” (Episode 4, pg 65). This explains that Adnan is guilty since Jay witness the body of Hae after Adnan murdered her.…

In "Serial", there were more people supplying evidence to prove he is innocent than guilty. Firstly, Asia's letters were a clear proof that he was innocent. She states how she was with him that day at the same time and did not seem like the type of guy that would do such a thing, as the ex-layer Rabia says, "McClain testified before the appellate court that she was with Adnan in the public library until around 2.40pm" (Chaudry 11). Asia’s letters could have easily pleaded him innocent. However, Asia then calls one of the prosecutors saying that she was pressured to write the letters.…

Although some argue that Adnan is Sketchy, He is actually chill because he talks very smoothly and does not hesitate. When Adnan is questioned by police or Sarah about anything involving the murder he does not take time to answer the questions as if he were making up lies. Instead, he answers clearly and quickly to show that he knows what he is talking about. When Adnan was asked about how Hae impacted his religion and if that angered him or not he fluently answered, “I never felt as if, you know, man you know Hae is “tearing me away from my religion.” (“Episode 02:…

But contrary to that, he should not have been able to tell that he was high if he could remember that but not the call. Adnan comes right out and tells us “I do remember being high at the time because the craziest thing is to be high and have the police call your phone. I will never forget that.” (Koenig, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”). Being able to remember this detail but not being able to recall anything us from the day can lead us to believe that he killed Hae on this day and he is trying to cover up for it by…

    Why Adnan Syed Is Innocent

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…

Even with all of this in mind, the court sees him as the main suspect and is not dissuaded by his normal persona. They pin him as Hae Min Lee’s killer by using the jealous boyfriend stereotype. It is also bad for his case when there are phone records and accounts of him acting strange on the day of her murder. Jay seems to be the only one that has a story that is sound enough to have Adnan as the main suspect.…

According to Jay’s statement, Adnan placed a call to pick him up from where he was with Hae’s car and body. Later on, Jay changed his story and said that Adnan called him at Best Buy using a payphone. In episode 5 of the serial podcast, Adnan issued a challenge to Sarah, “to test the state’s timeline of the murder by driving from Woodlawn High School to Best Buy in 21 minutes. It can’t be done he said”. Sarah and a producer helped her to recreate the entire route Jay and Adnan took on the day of Hae’s murder.…

Things were always being taken out of the story or new details were being added, One of the main things that was never really set in place is where adnan called jay to pick him up. In the first interview with the police jay had said that adnan told him to come a spot where they would frequently get drugs and he said that he got there and adnan showed him hae in her car dead. But in a later interview that was totally gone and a new place was added into the story. Jay now said that adnan called from a best buy pay phone and showed him the body in the parking lot. Later the detectives had Jay draw up a map of best buy with the pay phone on the outside of the best buy.…

The cell phone record wound up to be the best evidence provided. Adnan had the most sensible motive to kill Hae, and also the most witnesses testify against him.…
