Over the past 1 year I have had the opportunity to work as an administrative assistant and an assistant program coordinator for the Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley University. When I began working in this position I had did not know what to expect or fully what would be expected of me. However, as time progressed and with the guidance of Dr. Bibby, I was able to see the difference that I could not only make in the Center, but the difference in working in the Center could do to me.
During my time here I have been able to develop new skills and hone old one. These include creating budgets, creating/hosting conferences, paying closer attention to details, communication, and leading others to accomplish task not only on time

This position has not been an easy one. Each semester brought with it a new set of challenges. Fall 2015 it was trying to learn the job while planning two conferences and hiring of the Wood Assistants. Winter of 2016 included new challenges of budgets, keeping others motivated, and working through personnel issues. Summer of 2016 even greater motivation challenges and more complexing personnel issues. Each of these challenges brought with them the opportunity to reflect and see where improvement could be made not only at the Center but within myself as well. At times mistakes were made but I grew from them and am grateful for the mistakes more than successes, as it was through the mistakes that I grew the most. Years will past, but I will always recall my time here as a good one and I look forward to continuing my relationship not only with the Center but with those who I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with. I am grateful for the opportunity that I had to be here and while I look forward to my new job it is with a heavy heart that I resign from my position as an administrative assistant and an assistant program coordinator for the Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley

Observing the visits was probably the most enjoyable part of my entire work experience at George R. Vierno Center, it was incredible to see how well officers worked together to control the safety of both themselves and inmates. I learned a lot more than I thought I would be able to in the limited time span. The stimulating presentation and conversations with correctional professionals and former offenders has been incredibly beneficial to me since I had no concept of what went on in the correctional facilities. My hard work paid off, I will be joining the boldest team in June 2017. I am upbeat and pleased that I have finished my course and I can now graduate and now call myself a correction…

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…
