A Rhetorical Analysis of
“Public Knowledge, Beliefs, and Treatment Preferences Concerning Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder” In “Public Knowledge, Beliefs, and Treatment Preferences Concerning Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder,” the many credible authors discuss the importance of understanding and sympathizing with those diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The intention of the essay was to inform and bring to light the more controversial side of ADHD. Through pathos, ethos, and logos the authors reach out to the intended audience, not researchers, but rather parents of kids who suffer from ADHD and teachers who try to work with the disorder. The way they form a connection to the people closest to the children with ADHD, it strongly relies on the pathos aspect of the article. The audience then can have trust in the logical information they provide, because they are renowned psychologists and that sets up both logos and ethos. While ethos was not heavily relied on, it

Logos correlates with logic, something that the authors showed through this piece. When writing an article on scientific research and studies, there can be no fabrication to it and the authors knew that. Through studies conducted by them and other researchers, it backed up the tone that the authors were trying to present. The tone was to inform and through the use of studies and a formal, yet sympathetic tone they achieved that goal. That is one literary device that was shown. The provided others to get across the importance of the studies, but the tone is was shaped the paper. Another literary device that was shown in the article was the coherence of it. That played a big role in the writing of the piece because it helped the reader to easily follow their findings.
