Stuttering typically affects children who are 3 or 4 years old. The causes behind the stuttering are unknown. It is believed that emotional or neurological problems can affect a child’s ability to speak without a stutter. Most stuttering will go away on its own, but if it persists the child should be referred to a speech therapist (Woolfolk, 2013). Speech disorders also include voicing problems. A voicing problem is the third type of speech impediment. This could involve speaking at inappropriate pitches, monotonies, quality, or loudness. Students with learning disabilities become easily frustrated and discouraged. They do not know why they are having the troubles they are so they fall victim of learned helplessness. The students with learning disabilities believe that they are unable to control or improve their learning. This mindset can be very powerful in children. If the students fall victim to this then they altogether quit exerting the effort into their learning and give up easily. These children can develop bad habits.
