In this case, the medium of exchange backing the transactions was the huge stockpiles of old Reichsmark (ℛℳ) coins and bank notes controlled by the Remnants, along with the printing plates and other equipment needed to make more. The value of an item produced by the Remnants would be based on the amount labor and materials it took to make in American dollars. These Reichsmarks were backed not by gold or petroleum, but by the productivity of Remnant industrial power.
