People have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and some people even join virtual worlds, where they can create an avatar. In these virtual worlds, a person can interact with other avatars much like he or she would do if he or she were to meet people in the real world. A person can meet, socialize, and have an interchange of ideas through chat rooms, social networks, and virtual communities (mentioned earlier). Some internet users develop an emotional attachment to their online friends and online activities. Moreover,some of these people even neglect real-life friends because they are so busy with their virtual ones. It’s not addictive in the way a substance might be. But the internet is compelling and has multiple layers that can hold our attention for hours on end. It has dozens of search engines and can make a person go through dozens of results for just one topic. Then after a person clicks one result, it can then lead him or her into a black hole of information. Even just looking at one image on google will lead you to a hundred different websites. The funny thing about it is that a person would have never thought that he or she would end up on some of these online pages.
