In the study "The Cask of Amontillado," by Edgar Allen Poe. Throughout the story, a man name Montresor tries to get revenge again a man named
Fortunato. Montresor tempted him into catacombs in his home. Fortunato has many addictions which leads to many issues in Fortunato life.
Fortunato shows Montresor that he is easily bullied because of his actions. First, based on Fortunato's actions we can see that him being rich upsets Montresor. Due to the fact that Montresor was talking sternly to Fortunato about how rich he is. We can see that Fortunato is still happy with his life even though Montresor attacks him constantly. "You are rich, respected, admired, beloved; you are happy, as once I was." …show more content…
Montresor wants to be rich like Fortunato so he will do anything to ruin his life. It is clear from this situation that Fortunato is happy with his life and is not letting Montresor bring him down for money he earned himself. Next, based on his actions, Fortunato is a respected guy as he has a weak point. Due to the fact that Fortunato is a humerous guy that gets attacked a lot by Montresor and his crew, but it hurts him inside but does not let it show. Montresor hates to see him living his life to the fullest. He respected everybody like they were a part of him. "He was a man to be respected and ever feared."
