Addey Greenhalh Monologue Short Story

Addey Greenhalgh - My Story Monologue It was our last softball game of the season. I was pitching. It was the second half, and if we let them get even one run, we would lose. We had already beat this team twice, and were ready to beat them again. I breathed in and out again. My arm went up, around, and went back down in a circle. I let it go. It was a ball. I did it again, and it was a ball, and the next time, and the next too. The runner went to first. Next runner went to first also. There were runners on first, and second now. soon there were people on all the bases. I was sucking it up.
My sister called out to make sure to let it go at my side. That was it! I wasn’t letting go a my side. My next pitch, perfect, and the next, and next.

Dino was pitching them dead, and my team’s only hope was Johnny. We got up to the 10th inning, going strong, but staying tied; the sun was setting, and the moon was coming out to play. As I was gazing up at the wonderfully bright stars I heard a sharp call from the pitcher's mound… it was make or break. My palms were sweating and I couldn’t tell if my pulse was either going really fast, or was just nonexistent. I knew I should have dropped out but Johnny’s words just kept sticking in my brain, repeating over and over again.…

From that day on, starting each spring for nine years, I was outside practicing to be the best player I could be. Still to this day, even though I don’t play baseball anymore, nothing comes close to the energy and excitement I get from a baseball diamond because my body becomes full of energy, my mind begins to replay player’s actions and nothing seems to break my mind and focus on winning the game. Walking up to the gate my heart starts beating…

Our pitcher threw the ball and a quick swing from the batter made a pop and sent the ball flying towards center. As the raging ball came towards me I ran forward to it. It was getting closer and closer I jumped closed my glove and with great pride opened it up again. The glove was empty I panicked and turned back the ball was at the warning track the runner was making his way towards 3rd base. I turned and ran as fast as my body could, but I was too slow by the time I picked up the ball the runner was already making his way towards home base.…
