Adapting Traditions In Thanksgiving Day American Society

Oxford dictionary defines ‘’Root’’ as family, ethnic, or cultural origins, and the part of a plant which attaches it to the ground or to a support. It is taught that when roots go deeper what is on the ground gets richer. Roots which mean origins symbolize history of a culture, literature, customs, and traditions of a society. The most convenient example of planting seeds and watching the process of roots is how American society created their own way of living. American society’s history goes back to 16th and 17th centuries. As soon as the Pilgrims were landed the continent, American society stared to build their own culture, literature, customs, and traditions under influenced at the Motherland. They became a new type of society from variety …show more content…
American society’s ways of celebrating is not only unique and national but also simple and international that influences some of other societies’ way of celebrating holidays. Firstly, their ways of celebrating traditions can be seen when dinner time comes. In this case, in Thanksgiving Day American society consume lots of national types of foods. In United States, certain kinds of foods which are produced by local farmers in early times are traditionally seemed at Thanksgiving dinner. For example, baked or roasted turkey is usually the featured item on any Thanksgiving feast tables. Stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet corn, several of vegetables, and especially pumpkin and apple pie are also commonly associated with thanksgiving dinner. It still plays central role in Thanksgiving dinner to consume turkey. Through the centuries, these traditions influence the other peoples when they interact with an American society member. Today many Americans delight in giving regional produce, recipes, and seasonings a place in the Thanksgiving dinner table. Secondly, before and after eating dinner with family members and friends, holding each other’s hands, they pray and bless God for what they have and what they will manage to have in a thankful mood. This national holiday is a chance for getting together with others. In addition, in the Thanksgiving Day, families and friends usually gather together for large meals and parties. Additionally, this holiday weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. It is a 4-5 days weekend vocation for students. Most of business and government workers are given holiday for celebrating. Thanksgiving Eve, the night before, is one of the busiest nights of the year after Christmas Eve for bars,
