There is one more week left before the premiere of “Preacher” on AMC, but fans are already getting excited over the TV series adaptation of Garth Ennis’ cult comics. “Preacher” producer Evan Goldberg has even teased that Dominic Cooper’s new TV series will be even “more unpredictable” than “Game of Thrones” Season 6!
“More Unpredictable” Than “Game of Thrones”
Evan Goldberg, who developed “Preacher” for AMC with Seth Rogen, recently attended the show’s Hollywood premiere in Regal LA. The pilot’s co-director tried to explain to The Hollywood Reporter what makes “Preacher” so different from the other shows.
“This goes places metaphysically and intellectually and philosophically and emotionally that I don't think any other show has done or will do,” Goldberg said of “Preacher.” In an effort to make his explanation easier to understand, Evan Goldberg cited “Game of Thrones” for the show’s unpredictability.

“This show is a little more unpredictable — and ‘Game of Thrones’ is pretty unpredictable!”
That “Game of Thrones” Reference Is Spot On
Evan Goldberg definitely knows what he is talking about. “Game of Thrones” Season 6 follows events that could happen in the sixth novel of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series. Since George R.R. Martin has not yet completed “The Winds of Winter,” this is the first time that book readers don’t have an advantage on fans who only watch “Game of Thrones.”

The proliferation of anti-Christian television programs nowadays may be what the Bible foretold about the rise of “scoffers” in the last days, but Christians can still do something to fight back, according to Rev. Billy Graham. In a question-and-answer column on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s website, a reader remarked at how often Christians and other people of faith are mocked in a comedy program. When the reader asked if such TV shows should be banned, Rev. Graham urged him to fight back by speaking out if anything in the program seemed offensive.…

The series of Lost started in 2004 capturing the fictional lives of mainly 13 of the Oceanic flight 815 that crashed on a lush, tropical island. Throughout the series, you learn about everyone’s secrets, the power the island holds, and the “others”. The official rating for lost is PG-13, which I disagree with. Lost has a lot more violence than you think, it also shows drug use, a few sexual scenes, and the use of strong language. I personally do not think children of 13 should be watching this TV show because of the large amount of violence shown.…

When author George R.R. Martin wrote the book fantasy series “Song of ice and Fire,” it gave birth to the must-watch HBO Television series “Game of Thrones.” GRRM has been up to his neck trying to finish the “Winds of Winter” book but since the “Game of Thrones” series has already entered its sixth season, fans are trying to figure out the truth behind every character, every event and every story. Some of the fans may have already read the chapter about Mercy in “Winds of Winter,” so Arya Stark’s outcome may not have been shocking. However, the return of a Stark character in the TV series was unexpected. According to the IB Times, Uncle Benjen Stark showed up on the “Game of Thrones” episode, being an ally of the Three-Eyed Raven after being…

Chapter Six Summary Chapter six explores what the author calls the early church approach of verse by verse preaching (Allen Jr., 39). This form flows the way it is labeled, verse by verse with the addition of application between each verse. A pendulum like structure that swings from exegesis of the biblical text to the application portion immediate after the verse is explained. As the author states, and I agree, the verse by verse form’s strengths is that using this form allows for the text to reveal itself to the hearers and speak in its own way (41). The preacher is simply the mediator, or prophet if you will that helps the hearers apply its truths by use of exegesis.…

If “a mind needs books, like a sword needs a wet stone”, Game of Thrones marks my wet stone. The potency of the books stems from raw depictions of reality. Each moment of truthfulness emphasizes the significance of personal sacrifice, sexism, and racism. The characters possess diverse traits, but each trait and apparent strength requires sacrifice.…

Game of Thrones is an ideal example of why the mass media is drawn to the apocalyptic-fiction genre and can be attributed to the connection between fiction and reality. Internally, within the mind, there is a psychological interest in endings and the end of the world. Externally, there is interest regarding historical events and personal religious beliefs. The apocalypse-fiction genre in modern media continues to become increasingly popular because many books and shows, such as George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones, revolve around intercultural and religious beliefs as well as historical events. Many apocalyptic themes drive the main storyline in Martin’s book series and HBO’s screen interpretation of Martin’s books.…

The process of sermon formation takes on a different character for each preacher, a character as unique as the preacher themselves. The best approaches to preaching put the text first and allow the Holy Spirit through the text determine the best way to preach a particular passage. My personal approach to sermon formation has evolved over time as I have grown in my Christian walk, as my knowledge of the Bible and as I gain more experience as a preacher. My approach has especially evolved after having the opportunity to apply many of the concepts that were studied in the course of this semester. Currently I remain one of three people in our church pursing ordination as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene all being mentored by our senior pastor.…

“What is the hardest part about being a Preacher’s kid?” If I had a penny for every time I got asked this question I would probably be a millionaire, if not a billionaire. As soon as I would tell people that I was a preacher’s kid their first reaction was to look at me up and down, confirming that what I was wearing was “preacher’s kids appropriate clothes”. Others would simply smile in shock or not so happy about my comment. The reactions from each individual were completely different, but I began to somehow embrace these awkward situations and started bragging about what was once an embarrassing fact about myself.…

In Exile” is a short story written by Anton Chekhov and is based on his real life experiences. This is one of the few stories that arose directly from Chekhov 's extended trip to Sakhalin Island in 1890 (Coulehan). He carefully recorded the misery of the inhabitants of the five-hundred-mile long island by speaking up to 160 people each day (Gale). Chekhov tells a story of several men that are in exile and the exchange that takes place between two of the men. A third-person narrator tells us, “Old Semyon, whose nickname was preacher, and a young tartar, whose name no one knew, were sitting by a campfire on the bank of the river” (Chekhov 111).…

Game of Thrones is unlike any other series on air to date. It has recently gained a massive following of fans over its fairly short lifespan as a series. Drawing from George R. R. Martins books, this series, for sake of argument is practically the same as the books in its adaptation. The series strays from the typical fantasy series with its absence of a singular quest, portrayal of magic, and its mostly gray characters, give Game of Thrones a realistic view in the fantasty genre. With all of the elements included in Game of Thrones, it almost deserves its own category away from fantasy.…
