Have you ever wondered if Adam Shepard or Chris McCandless journey was superior to each other? Well, they both are white, they were in the middle class, and they both use to live with their family; however, they both had a different perspective on their journey. During Shepard’s journey, he wanted to prove Barbara Ehrenreich’s book that the American Dream was still not dead so, he decides to take the challenge for one year at Charleston to reveal that you can start from poverty and work your way up to the middle class. Nevertheless, throughout Chris McCandless’s Journey, he gave up his former life to discover a new purpose in the wilds. In Adam viewpoint, he impacted Bubble Gum by explaining that “with a little patience and discipline, he could accomplish the same thing that I had” (Shepard 209). He tells this to Bubble Gum because Adam had already experienced this before, so he gives many tips and advice to make sure Bubble Gum prepares for his future. At the same time, Chris McCandless impacted Ron life by telling him that “a core of man's spirit comes from new experience, and there you are, a stubborn old man sitting on your butt” (Penn). Chris explains to Ron that it’s time for you to explore new things around you which made Ron wanted to adopt Chris McCandless. However, Chris said “we can talk about this later” after going on an adventure in Alaska, which made Ron feel sad since he wanted to pass his generation to Chris. They both impacted different people through each of their journeys, however, Adam Shepard action is superior to Chris McCandless action because Adam influence has stuff to do with everyday life with poverty while Chris influence was just to get Ron out of their comfort
