Shakespeare’s play Macbeth and Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s film All About Eve, explores the fatal effect ambition has not only on others but on oneself. Within both, it is the willpower of the main characters, Macbeth and Eve whose desire dissembles their morals, inflicting harm and distress on those around them, consequently leading them to their downfall. While both Macbeth and Eve are alike in their ambition, they have different instigators. Each of those however can be regarded as equally dangerous; Macbeth murders, Eve manipulates and has no remorse for her actions. Macbeth and Scar from The Lion King are similar because in the beginning of Macbeth, King Duncan’s death is planned when Macbeth is told by the three witches that he can claim the throne if Duncan passes away before Malcolm becomes old enough to rule. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both plan the murder of King Duncan. After King Duncan is pronounced dead his son fleas out of town worrying that he might be next on the list. The Lion King was supposed to be based off of Hamlet in the first place but somehow seems to make more sense when comparing it to Macbeth, for insistence, in The Lion King we have Scar (who is playing Macbeth) who wants to get rid of Mufasa because he wants to take over the Pride Land with the help of the hyenas (who are playing the three witches) before Simba turns old enough to take over. So Scar murders Mufasa and talks…

Tragedy befalls upon those who let evil infect their lives and those who refuse to resist it. William Shakespeare’s tragedy play, Macbeth, emulates the truth that when poor morality surrounds the faint of heart and impressionable people of the world, it proves difficult to resist it. Macbeth, the main protagonist in Shakespeare’s play, exhibits these plastic qualities that allowed him to follow a path of darkness and suffering brought by himself. At the play’s premise, Macbeth showed great promise of living an honorable life, but with the prophecy of ultimate power, his ambition to make it so won out. Macbeth, the once honored warrior, fell from his noble path due to his greed for power and the evil that surrounded his weak-hearted soul.…

Shakespeare’s villains, Iago and the Macbeths, share murderous thoughts and actions, while manipulating others, however they carry out their final plans differently. Despite both being villainous characters created by the same writer, they are very different people in the stories, but carry some of the same characteristics from each other, as well as having the same jobs in the separate stories. One of the things that the Macbeths and Iago have in common is their murderous thoughts about the people that either hurt them or got in the way of something they wanted. For the Macbeths, the plot to kill Duncan was the way they expressed this. “We fail!…
