2. Acupuncture uses solid metallic needles that are placed by hands or electrical stimulation. These needles are placed on different points on the body through the skin to help with a variety of symptoms.
3. In the America’s, acupuncture is often used for chronic pain such as: low-back pain, neck pain, and osteoarthritis/knee pain. It may also help with tension headaches and prevent migraine headaches.
4. There is a controversy whether or not this type of therapy is just a placebo. The research is ongoing to see if acupuncture is actually helps to relieve pain.

The FDA has done many studies on ear candling and has found no scientific evidence proving that this treatment works and has actually found it unsafe. In 2010, The FDA has issued a warning to the public about the risks of ear candling. The report stated that healthcare providers should not use ear candles because they can cause serious injuries even when directions are followed correctly. Burns, perforated eardrums and blockages from the wax can occur during treatment. Ear candling has been advertised as alternative for ear problems with children and this can be especially dangerous.
You do not have be licensed to do ear candling and you can buy a kit over the counter. The kit is fairly inexpensive (under $20) to do at home, and costs around $40-$110 in a physician's office. Some offices do accept insurance but a co-pay must be paid. Many websites tell of the ‘benefits’ of this treatment and do not show any of the harms. This is dangerous to the public because most people do not research treatments fully before performing them at home. Many people cannot afford, or do not want to see a physician for their problems and tend to go to the internet for help. If you search “at home ear remedies” ear candling is the first at home remedy.
