Would people recognize the difference between “active volcano” and “Holocene volcano?” Well there is no difference, people just use the term “active” wrong. Scientist say that, “...it is misleading to restrict “active volcano” to recorded human memories: we prefer to add another identifying word (“historically active” or “Holocene volcano”).” People are probably confused on what these terms actually mean because no one would see the difference or wouldn’t care. Volcanoes are very old, they been around for thousands of years. Only a few (about) 500 or more has been recorded because scientist say that “At least 20 volcanoes will probably be erupting as you read these words…” And when 20 or more volcanoes are erupting at once, scientist can’t all be around the world when 20 volcanoes are erupting all at the same time! That is why scientist only have a few (about 500 …show more content…
These deposits are rich in minerals and these minerals are not available for all plants around the world. The ash and rock minerals can form into rich soil, but that depends on the location of the volcano and the weather. It can take, “...thousands of years of weathering for the ash and rock deposits to form a rich soil.”(Source 2: Volcanic Soils) The rich soil is called “volcanic loam.” When the volcanic loam is forming it all depends on the weather. Source 2, “Volcanic Soils” says, “In Hawaii, for example, weathering from wind and rain occurs quickly because of the tropical climate. Hawaii’s lush vegetation is due to the rapid formation of soil from volcanic deposits.” In that piece of text it says, that volcanic loam helps farming and crops. When the loam breaks down it gives important nutrients to plants and provides wonderful drainage. Italy has very poor soil, except Naples. Mount Vesuvius is located in the same region of Italy, Naples and caused two abundant eruptions that happened about ten thousands of years

Mount St. Helens, located in Skamania County Washington State, had an eruption which caused the death of fifty-seven people on May 18, 1980. A cloud full of ash rose into the sky, turned everything dark, and made any given time of day appear as black as midnight across many of the north-western states. It was recommended that people not leave their homes and they were told to wear gauze masks to keep the ash from entering their lungs. The eruption also caused about one thousand miles of roads to close (including state highways), trains to be stopped, and it forced aircraft to land. The repairs for the roads alone cost hundreds of millions of dollars.…

One such time was in a news article called “Underwater Volcano Offers Rare Look at Eruption in Real Time”, written by Nadia Drake from National Geographic. The article spoke of how the volcano's location, surroundings, etc, help geologists learn more and more each day about volcanoes and how to forecast their eruptions. The article later states that a geophysicist at the University of North Carolina says, “We can understand these simple systems first, and then move to more complex volcanoes and apply similar ideas.”…

The volcano is filled with magma, which then turns into lava when it erupts, it is white liquid when it erupts then changes colours through yellow, orange, red and then when it solidifies it turns black and hard.[Source 6] The volcano also consists of gas (such as steam and hydrogen sulfide), ash and lumps of solid volcanic rock (such as scoria).Volcanoes are at or near the edges of the tectonic plates. The reason why volcanoes erupt is that there is too much pressure in the earth and then that leads to the release of the magma(lava), and the plates will move. Sometimes major volcanic eruptions also produce tsunamis. It says in source 4 that for a volcano to produce a tsunami you will need: ‘A volcano near the coast, An eruption that sends a large enough volume of material into the water to displace a significant volume of…
