Active Correlation: The Three Types Of Gene Environment

The three types of gene environment correlations are passive correlation, evocative correlation, and active correlation. Passive correlation occurs when a young child does not have control over the environments that fit his/her genetics. The parents of the child usually expose the child to experiences and environments based on the parents’ genes. For example, I have three friends who are all siblings whose parents are both musically inclined. Their parents taught the three of them how to play various instruments and their whole family all play and sing together at church and at home. They were likely to be successful in music because they have inherited genes from their parents and were exposed to musical environments.
Evocative correlation
