Management is the process of communicating and co-operating in order to achieve the organizational goals. The purpose of this paper is to address several theories and management concepts as solutions for some managing challenges. The following is a case study of an administration manager, Alex. A short case background is firstly presented, followed by the problem identification and analysis. Finally, certain alternatives are suggested to improve the situation. The most important course of action – which should be implemented immediately - is paying employees by results, one of the key elements of Taylorism. It is unfair that every member within the organization receives the same rate of pay, regardless of their performance. In order to receive higher payment, people must strive harder to enhance the level of job performance and find the best way to accomplish the given tasks. Once this course is carried out properly, all human resource will be boosted to their greatest potential. According to five-step model to efficiency developed by F.W.Taylor, the first step is identifying good workers to train. In this case, Sarah, the adminstration assistant, is a good example. As she is friendly and has courage to do anything, she will be the most likely person to adopt Alex’s idea and be his loyal ally. Alex should train her well (computing skill, communication skill) with a hope that when she performs the work more effectively, others workers will show respect to her and follow her step. In the short-term, Alex could familiarize the staff with some simple computing and online tasks by changing the way they work. For instance, instead of meeting in person to discuss, Alex can now send the workers all the information related to work via email. Also, from now on, all the document must be prepared on computer, using word processing software rather than in
