Many children today are affected by childhood obesity. Children will tend to be as healthy as their parents want them to be. If parents want to feed their children junk food all the time, then their child will be more at risk to becoming obese. Now if the parent feeds their children healthy types of food, then they are not so much at risk. Being able to control a child’s diet at a young age will determine the outcome of their future. Children do not have a say on what they eat, they eat the food that is provided by their parent. In the article “Actions Necessary to Prevent Childhood Obesity: Creating the Climate for Change” author, Marlene B. Schwartz states, “After years of near total neglect, the problem of childhood obesity is now in the limelight” (Schwartz 1). Many people have neglected the issue of child obesity which is absurd! Actions need to be taken by parents before their children pay the price of child obesity. The best way to understand on how serious child hood obesity is to understand the definition and an important fact about it. The “Mayo Clinic” explains that child hood obesity is, “a serious medical condition that affects children and adolescents. The “Southland Times” explain, “Breakfast has also been proven to be a great aid in concentration and mental performance, ensuring your child is able to make the most of their opportunities.” Breakfast is there to prepare the child for the day. Breakfast is what fuels their body and nourishes them. If the breakfast end up being healthy then that is even better. A healthy breakfast is a great way to help with child obesity.
