Hamlet represents a typically thoughtful person who waits to act but then reaches extremes in certain moments when he makes rash decisions that unknowingly lead to his demise. However; Hamlet always executes plans well even though the outcome may be unfavorable. Claudius represents someone who has a better balance than Hamlet because he plots quickly and strikes quickly but his execution of doing so is faulty and also leads to his demise. Polonius represents a terrible balance between thought and actions because he overthinks situations and tries to control them with his incorrect assumptions. Ophelia is a confused character that does not get to make many decisions for herself, and is a victim of her over controlling father and Hamlet 's verbal abuse. Gertrude essentially doesn’t have a balance because she only rarely thinks about Hamlet and doesn’t act on anything. She is basically along for the ride, but isn’t too blind to see that her husband dying and her remarriage to Claudius clearly deeply upsets Hamlet. Every character in Hamlet does not represent the perfect balance between thought and action. They all either think and or act too much and end up hurting themselves or others after waiting or deciding too
