Act Test Reflection

Throughout my two years of high school, I have not yet taken the ACT’s because I don’t feel as if I’m as prepared as I can be. As my grade level gets higher, I choose to take more advanced classes that will prepare me more for college and my ACT test. As of now, I plan on taking the ACT for my first time in either the fall or winter so I have time to study. If I don’t score as high as I’d like to, I will know what areas I need to work on, and I could keep retaking it until I get a score I really like. I hope that when I do feel ready and prepared to take it, I can aim to get a score between 28-32, but since it would be my first time taking it, I would feel happy with a score of at least 22. Although I’m not very sure on what to expect while taking the ACT, I do believe that I have some strengths that will put me at an advantage. I am confident in the fact that I can revise my writing when needed if there are fragments; such as if I’m being redundant and using the same words over and over. I also think that I am good at recognizing important roles sentences play in paragraphs. I am very capable in judging whether a sentence is of significance or not, and deciding if a sentence …show more content…
The first one is make sure a verb agrees with its subject. For example, If I saw, “the list of books are on the desk,” I would probably think it was correct. However, I know that the verb does not match with its subject, so are should change to is. Another writing error I’m not very good at is creating introductions that grab a reader's’ attention. I find it hard to write a relatable introduction paragraph that a reader would enjoy and keep reading. Last but not least, I think that sometimes my essays can be a bit cluttered. As much as I’d like to say that they’re organized, I sometimes find myself drifting off from the main topic and bouncing back and forth from one topic to

One of the first recurrent mistakes that I made in the first draft of my composition was spelling out names and adding too many letters. For example, when I tried to spell out my father’s name. I wrote his name as jota-a-y griega-uve-i-e-ere. This spells out the name Jayvier. His name is properly spelled jota-a-uve-i-e-ere, which spells out Javier.…

For example, she went from talking about the advantages of extending school days to talking about the disadvantages of hiring a home sitter. Her essay is not at a steady pace. For example, she talks about the children’s safety, their parent’s worries, children disliking school, the benefits the children and their parents and teachers would have, and then jumps back to the dangers and children’s safety. I suggest, a proper way to keep an essay organized is to stick with one point and go into detail with that point, so that the reader is on track and not confused. An effective organized essay smoothly guides the reader through a clearly understood…

Progress Paper This is a reflection of my evaluation on my progression from the first essay I wrote to the second. Looking back at the first essay I wrote in this class titled “My Experiences” and the second essay I wrote titled “The Variety of Family Structures in Today’s Society” I noticed several things. I had wording choice and punctuation errors in both essays, but my body paragraphs had good development. I needed to elaborate more with certain topics that I brought up, but my thesis statements and conclusions were good.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

No matter where you go or went to school, you always have some type of English class that forces you to write papers. These papers usually has to be a certain way or over a certain topic. To me that was a pretty big problem for me because I could do free writing easy, but when you tell me to write about something that I don 't have any interest in and I have to follow your “rules”, then I will just try to blow it off. I have always hated the way Professors and the world had this “image” of their version of a “perfect” essay. I always messed up on the rules like where to put my commas or semicolons, that to me is the hardest part to not have a run- on sentence.…

My papers get very boring because I can be repetitive in my essays and I tend to lose focus on the purpose of the essay. In addition, my introductions are my weakest point because a paper can’t be strong without a strong introductory paragraph. I never learned any good ways to make a paper intriguing from the start and I think it can make my essays memorable.…

I do not revise my essays very much besides taking into consideration my peer’s comments.
