In The Diary of Anne Frank, Act 2, Mr.Vann Dan demonstrates an example of the shameful depths to which humans can sink when he steals bread during the night. They already have so little to eat since the person who would supply them with ration coupons got arrested and probably killed. And yet he still tried to blame the rats when he was being greedy one. At the table, Mrs.Vann Dan would always him the choicest bits and his poor son Peter would moan in his sleep because of hunger, yet despite everything he chooses to be greedy and steal bread. This is also a wonderful example of what hunger can do to a person.
