The narrative voices of male characters in several pieces of art, literature, and music are shown sharing their enthusiastic response of endearment to a woman that they love. “Michelle” was a song performed by Sir Paul McCartney in the White House for President Barack Obama and his wife, the song was written by John Lennon. In the song the main male character sings to the woman he loves. He sings to her to tell her how fond he is of her and how a normal “I love you” won’t do the job for how much he loves her. Very much similar to the song is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare.…

In Act II, Scene 2 of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s diction is very complex and sets the mood for the scene. Through the dialogue between Romeo and Juliet, the reader can conclude that they both love each other vigorously. Romeo describes Juliet with analogies that compare her to celestial objects. For him, she has “two of the fairest stars in all the heaven” as eyes (Shakespeare Line 17). The use of ‘fairest stars’ conveys the point that Juliet seems unique to Romeo.…

Act 3 Response In Romeo and Juliet, many characters’ actions seem to be done out of love. However, as the reader examines these actions more deeply, it seems that some are done out of selfishness. For example, although Lord Capulet acts as though he wants the best for Juliet, it seems most of his decisions are egocentric. He may have had benevolent intentions in the beginning, but we later find out this has changed. Capulet did not consider Juliet’s feelings towards Paris, which would have been the loving thing to do.…
