Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, also know as AIDS, is an unobtrusive aggressor. AIDS made its first appearance in the 1980’s. AIDS is caused by the infection known as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which is a minuscular organism that can cultivate and reproduce inside living cells. HIV attacks and incapacitates the body 's immune system. When the immune system breaks down, a person with AIDS will develop life-threatening illnesses. The incursion of the AIDS virus in a person 's body leaves the body vulnerable to an invasion by many other different poisons, called opportunistic diseases. These infections are the key causes of death of AIDS victims. Because there is not yet a cure for AIDS, once the disease attacks the body there is no way to get rid of it.
There are many ways to contract this disease. The only way to become infected with HIV is for infected blood, semen or vaginal secretions to enter your body. You can 't become infected through regular, everyday contact. Therefore, you can not get HIV or AIDS by kissing, hugging, dancing or shaking hands with someone who has the disease. Despite popular belief, HIV also cannot be transferred through the air, water or via insect bites. There are, literally, only four ways that you can contract HIV.
HIV can be contracted by having vaginal, anal or oral sex with an infected partner and their blood, semen or vaginal secretions entering your body. The virus can enter your body through mouth sores or small tears that…
