[1] An important first step in solving your problem with acne is setting aside its most common misperception. Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. Therefore you should not be constantly washing your face, which can cause your skin to dry out and become irritated, thus causing an overproduction of oil leading to the formation of more acne. [3,4] (As depicted in Figure 3) If washing your face every hour is not the answer, what is? Two therapies, benzoyl peroxide and intense pulsed light therapy are going to be discussed and a recommendation will be made. Each has positive and negative aspects. The recommendation will be based on the following factors that are important to many young adults and/or students: side effects, convenience, cost, and effectiveness. As in the modern day and age where most people are looking to get treated in ways that would negatively affect them the least, the therapies must have little to no major side effects to be considered effective. As most of you are busy with studies, work, and/or sports, have limited resources, and are not always alone; the therapies must be convenient to be considered effective. As of you are not financially stable or independent; the therapies must be cost effective to be considered
