In this experiment, we added different types of liquid to stimulate acid rain, in order to determine the growth of crops when affected by different strengths of acid rain. My hypothesis was that if the liquid was less acidic, then the crops would be able to grow more effectively. My prediction was that water would grow the crops the tallest, that apple cider vinegar would grow the crops the shortest, and that white vinegar would grow the crops in the middle. Furthermore, my hypothesis was proven to be correct, as the less acidic liquids grew the seeds most effectively. After conducting this experiment, it can be concluded that water grew the seeds the most, that apple cider vinegar grew the seeds the least, and that white vinegar grew the seeds in the middle. Over the span of the experiment, the average water seed grew from 14.2 millimeters to 66.8 millimeters. The average white vinegar seed grew from 13 millimeters to only 13.2 millimeters, showing little to no growth. Surprisingly, the average apple cider vinegar seed declined in size from 12.6 millimeters to 11.8 millimeters. In conclusion, water grew the seeds most effectively out of the three liquids. Based on the data, it can be said that less acidic rain will grow crops more effectively than heavily acidic rain.

I learned that acid rain deteriorates buildings and statues, leading me to believe that acid rain would not have a positive effect on crops either. In my experiment, water significantly grew the seeds better than the two types of vinegar. One source of potential experimental error could have been that the same group members did not measure the same cups every day. Another cause of experimental error would be that liquid was not evenly distributed among each seed. On day one of watering, seed #5 did not receive any

    After Jar B’s fronds were white and dead, the conclusion that higher concentrations of dish soap can kill organisms like duckweed and be deadly if exposed to the environment, possibly through rivers and runoff, in high concentrations was formed. Some experimental errors were that small concentrations of Dawn to be added to the jars, like 1%, 0.1%, and 0.01% were difficult to measure with the dropper and errors in measuring were likely made. Over the experiment time, plant 1 grew 0.5cm (2.38% increase) which was as expected as it didn’t have a high salinity.
