More hero’s go unnoticed than those who do get noticed. Hero’s used to be the best fighters or the greatest hunter, but times have changed. Now a hero can take on many take on many different forms. Beowulf is the great leader of the Danes who kills all types of creatures. Achilles is the best warrior to ever fight for the Greek army. Hero’s do still exist they are all around us. The great Beowulf and mighty Achilles are both amazing men. Beowulf lived a very action-packed life. During his life he killed many creates that posed a threat to him and his men. Beowulf seems to be almost fearless because he decides to fight Grendel naked, and in the same Achilles will not back down from a challenge. Achilles doesn’t give up, likewise Beowulf battle through adversity to achieve his goals. Both of these hero’s show strong values in both bravery and perseverance. As much as the heroes have in common they also have their differences. For instance, Beowulf will do wat needs to be done to maintain a fair fight where Achilles would not think twice about just ending their life. Next Achilles has shown his self-centeredness by not always being willing to fight for his country, Beowulf is always ready to do what is necessary to defend what is his. Lastly Achilles does not have the mindset to be a leader like Beowulf. To close Beowulf is the better hero because he is a leader and is the more honorable man. In the 21st century Beowulf would remain the better leader. From early in the story Beowulf earned his way to the top., and was motivated to be the best. Time and again Beowulf took chances, but he took them with poise in his ability to fight and be a leader. Confidence is a quality to a good hero both now and in ancient times. Achilles lacked the motivation and the will to be the better of the two
