Through Achilles’ selfish behavior, exhibited through both the way he lets his pride hurt his army, and the ways he stayed only loyal to himself, struggles as a leader are made clear. A warrior can be as strong and tough, but if they cannot lead their army to work together and conquer, they are not the greatest warrior. One warrior cannot win the war alone, and it’s through Hector’s dedication to the Trojans that they rise. Achilles is an exceptional fighter and uses his selfish behavior to his personal advantage, however, he never puts his army above himself, and it’s through this that he loses respect from his fellow warriors.
