He is a demi-god and his body is indestructible to all weapons, except in a tendon on his ankle. He was courageous in fighting in the war and avenging Patroclus’ death.

He succeeded in killing Hector. This resulted in the Achaeans winning the war and burning Troy down.

Achilles did not face supernatural beings, except for Apollo and other gods.

Achilles made long speeches when talking to Thetis, Hector, and Priam. In these speeches he used words like abstain, destitute, scourge, and more, showing a higher level of vocabulary.

Overall, Achilles is an epic hero because he follows all of the important traits of one. He is physically very strong and inside his mind he is smart and chooses justice.

He did fight Achilles, who technically a supernatural creature as man made weapons cannot hurt him. Their battle did result in the death of Hector showing his weakness.

Hector made several speeches, like the one to Achilles pleading for mercy. In this speech he used words like arbiters, which shows higher vocabulary. He uses formal language in discussing a pact with Achilles

In conclusion, Hector is not an epic Hero. He has the physical strength being Troy’s greatest warrior, and the knowledge to strategies and try to deceive people with his words. However he lacks in having a heart to fight for good and justice, which is something all epic heroes need.
