In the Iliad by Homer, he made Achilles realistic, he made him complex in order to make him more life like.When this falls out, the character created often has multiple or conflicting motivations.These multiple or conflicting motivations make the character real because they frequently have both positive or negative desires.Achilles multiple and conflicting motivations make him complex because he bears many traits and is not completely good and not completely bad. Achilles was selfish/selfless, when he goes to war for fame and glorification.
