In book21, after Achilles and Agamemnon finally end their feud over Briseis, Achilles rejoins the war inhis new set of shining armor hand-crafted by Hephaestus himself. Quickly, we see why he wasconsidered so important to the Achaean cause. Almost single-handedly, Achilles drives theTrojans back across the Scamander river. They stand no chance against the raging demi-god.Brutally, he slices the Trojan ranks and is only stopped by the gods of the Scamander river.Another show of strength by Achilles is in book 22 when Hector stands outside the gates of Troyto meet him. Poor Hector (the real hero in my opinion) is killed after running around his citythree times. Achilles is too much to handle for the man that was by far the best fighter for theTrojans.
